A Bit About Me

From an early age, I was drawn to improving processes and questioning the status quo. Whether on the sports field or in the classroom, I challenged the norm, believing that innovation comes from breaking the mold. In my professional journey, I started as a Civil Engineer but shifted toward business management. Frustrated by the slow pace of improvement, I left my Engineering job to pursue a business opportunity and turn around a struggling contracting business.

 

After successfully revitalizing this business, I transitioned into management consulting, only to face a sudden personal tragedy with my father's passing. To save our family's businesses from financial ruin, my wife and I invested our home equity and embarked on a challenging journey to revive these ventures. This period taught me invaluable lessons in entrepreneurship and resilience.

 

By the age of 31, I had navigated near insolvency, orchestrated turnarounds, and sold our family businesses. Seeking a break from the rollercoaster of entrepreneurship, I secured a stable job in management consulting. However, my instinct for challenging convention resurfaced, leading me to launch my boutique consulting business, Syntropy Group.

 

Despite my lack of sales experience, I found a unique ability to connect with business owners, fostering enduring and trusting relationships. Over a decade of work with Syntropy Group, I helped numerous clients achieve remarkable growth.

 

As I delved into interim leadership roles, I found my true calling. Hands-on transformation, mentoring, and guiding teams became immensely fulfilling. Advising started to feel like a chore, as I yearned to lead by example.

 

Now, in the middle of my career, armed with experience, knowledge, and capital, I am on a mission to acquire an existing business. I aim to provide business owners an exit strategy while building upon their life's work. I'm deeply grateful for my journey, and I'm excited about the next chapter.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  1. Executed a successful  turnaround of an almost bankrupt family group of businesses and sold them

  2. Various Interim Executive Leadership roles including:

    • ​Interim Operation Manager for a $12M+ Traffic Services business  (Improved EBITDA Margin from 1% to 19%)

    • Interim Leader of various departments for the largest exterior facilities contractor ($100M+ revenues) in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Increasing revenue by 22% & EBITDA Margin 5%. The firm subsequently won several Industry Leading Business awards including Canada’s Best Managed Companies 

  3. Led the team that implemented GPS/Lidar road scanning technology for one of Canada’s largest road building contractors and advised the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario on developing specifications that would revolutionize road building methodologies and accuracy in Ontario. 

  4. Facilitated resolution to an International Governance crisis for a Global Engineering firm that springboarded the company to unprecedented growth

  5. Adviser to one of the largest mechanical contractors in Ontario resulting in revenue growth of 1,800% and establishing a National presence

  6. Facilitated Toronto Global's transformation into a regionally focused Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Agency aligning all FDI  stakeholders in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
